RISC Academic Colloquia

The Risk and Insurance Studies Centre (RISC) is pleased to present the next session of the Winter 2026 RISC Colloquia, featuring Dr. Mario Ghossoub, an Associate Professor & Sun Life Fellow in International Actuarial Science at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo.

Title: Foundations for Optimal Peer-to-Peer Insurance

In this talk, I will go over some of my recent work on (decentralized) risk sharing, with applications to peer-to-peer insurance. The latter has gained significant attention in recent years as a feasible model of insurance, especially in markets where traditional insurance has been lagging.

In the first part of this talk, I will discuss how to characterize Pareto-optimal allocations of risk in risk-exchange markets.

In the second part of this talk, I will cover some of my recent work in the burgeoning area of risk sharing between agents of mixed risk attitudes.

This session will be delivered fully online via Zoom.
