HAIIvVE Fall 2025 Applications Now Open!

The Risk and Insurance Studies Centre (RISC) is delighted to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 Fall-term Hybrid Academia-Industry Internship via Virtual Engagement (HAIIvVE) 10 Program.

This paid, part-time, 16-week internship offers students from the University of Toronto and York University a unique opportunity to gain real-world professional experience while pursuing their academic studies.

Now celebrating its 10th iteration, the HAIIvVE Program continues to bridge the gap between academia and industry through innovative, work-integrated learning experiences. In recognition of this milestone, RISC will be hosting several special events throughout the year to commemorate a decade of impact, collaboration, and success.

The HAIIvVE initiative has already completed nine successful iterations, providing over 200 students from various disciplines with the opportunity to explore their career interests and develop critical workplace skills. Past participants have engaged with a wide range of distinguished industry partners, including Byrne Associates, Sun Life, Wawanesa Insurance, Laurentian Bank, CIBC, Deloitte, Trend Micro Canada Technologies, IECG Career, RBC Insurance and Co-operators, Caspire Education Inc., York Region (The Regional Municipality of York), and the International Labour Organization (United Nations tripartite organization), among many others in and beyond the financial services sector.

Beginning on September 8, 2025, selected interns will join interdisciplinary teams to work on innovative, real-world projects under the mentorship of Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) professionals and academic experts. Collaboration and communication within the program will take place in a virtual reality corporate environment, complemented by in-person meetings at York University.

This paid internship provides a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen their technical, analytical, and professional competencies while gaining hands-on experience in risk management and insurance.
