Celebrating the Success of the REaL Risk Camp: Voices from Our Community
The conclusion of our recent REaL Virtual Risk Camp marks another exciting milestone in empowering high school students with essential risk literacy skills. Held in December 2025, the camp brought together students from several high schools across Ontario for an impactful learning experience.
What truly defines the success of REaL is the feedback we receive from participants and their families. This camp’s testimonials highlight the program’s ability to combine meaningful learning with fun, interactive experiences.
Students consistently emphasized how enjoyable and engaging the camp was.
From simulations and games to breakout room discussions, participants appreciated the dynamic format that encouraged collaboration and connection. Many shared that they not only learned new concepts quickly, but also built new friendships along the way. One Grade 12 student noted how valuable the experience was, especially for younger peers looking to better understand risk in today’s world.
Parents also observed significant growth in their children.
Several highlighted improvements in mathematical skills, decision-making confidence, and a deeper understanding of how risk applies to everyday life. One parent shared that their child left the camp feeling inspired by the industry experts they interacted with and eager to stay connected.
Beyond academic learning, the REaL Risk Camp fostered confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking. Activities like the Risk Olympics and interactive brain-teasers created an exciting and educational environment for students.
We are grateful for the enthusiastic feedback and thoughtful suggestions from our community, including interest in longer and summer-based camps.
As we continue to grow the REaL program, these insights will help shape even more impactful experiences for future participants.
Thank you to all our students, parents, partners, and supporters for making this camp a success. We look forward to welcoming even more young learners to upcoming REaL camps.
